Material Handling Controller

Location: Bridgwater, New Build Power Station Project
Salary: Upwards of £60,000 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Material Handling Controller to join a key project team, this role is critical to ensuring smooth material flow and tracking on site throughout this stage in the new build project.
Key Responsibilities
  • Direct a team of storekeepers, forklift drivers, and support staff.
  • Administer safe and efficient material handling processes at the laydown area/warehouse.
  • Prepare safety documentation for tasks and ensure clarity among team members.
  • Organize materials for easy retrieval and manage smooth receipt and dispatch processes.
  • Conduct “open box” inspections for all incoming materials, reconciling with shipping documents.
  • Implement robust stock control and inventory management procedures to address shortages.
  • Manage issuance of materials to subcontractors with traceability evidence.
  • Ensure all equipment is stored, protected, and preserved per established protocols.
  • Handle procurement of consumables in line with procedures and budget constraints.
Working Pattern
  • Hours: 38 hours per week
  • Days: Monday to Friday, flexible hours 
Experience & Skills
  • Familiarity with materials used in the electrical side of power plant construction.
  • Previous experience in a construction site environment.
  • Proficient in using computers and tracking applications.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and leadership skills.
  • Practical, respectful, and loyal with a solution-oriented mindset.
