NRL are recruiting on behalf of a Specialist Services contractor.  Reporting to the Head of Design you will have responsibility for the electrical design aspects on all your assigned enquiries and projects, these can be split into specific stages:


Tender stage design and estimation:

  • Preparation of RFIs to ensure clients’ requirements are clarified and realised.

  • Complying with all latest building regulations, statutory authority legislation, best practices and environmentally complimentary schemes.

  • Site surveys to determine existing building layouts and services to enable sketches, take offs, estimation and quantifiable solutions to be produced.

  • Understand the Quality Systems, implement and promote.

  • Correctly interpret drawings, specifications, and manufacturers data for design purposes.

  • Assess buildability of the installation and provide proactive solutions where required.

  • Prepare cost plans with sufficient details of how the costs have been derived.

  • To maintain a close working relationship with Commercial, Engineering and Operations teams, ensuring cohesion in any new business venture.

  • Prepare proposal letter technical descriptions with annotations to present the solution.

  • Liaising with clients to capture and interpret the design brief.

  • Prepare energy reports and life cycle costs to accompany your cost plan and proposal.

  • To create electrical designs, calculations and schedules for Construction issue including cable calculations, discrimination studies, Isolux plots. - all within building services.



Post tender project design and co-ordination:

  • Prepare in collaboration with the design team a risk and opportunities register.

  • Report to your line manager on design production progress and deliverables to ensure the design function supports the construction phase and programme.

  • Liaising will all disciplines to ensure works are accurately coordinated without clashes.

  • Inspection of onsite installations and design certificate signoffs.



General:

  • Based at our office in Manchester and site based project locations (attendance at the office and site project office will be required at times however an amount of working from home is allowable) you will also have a responsibility for attendance at client design / project meetings and therefore providing feedback from these meetings etc. to all other staff, liaison and coordination with all other contractors and site based project teams.

  • To support the Operations team with the necessary commercial and technical information in order for them to progress site activities on time and to the required quality.

  • To maintain a good knowledge of the industry, emerging markets and business opportunities to ensure effective promotion and local exposure.

  • You will have an excellent knowledge of current relevant legislation, requirements and best practice.  You will be responsible for the quality and standard for your complete design from concept and costing to handover stage.

Risk Management – effectively manages risks and ensures that the interests of the business, others and self are protected. 

Customer Awareness – effectively manages relationships in the supply chain, responsive to the needs of the customer, aims to deliver customer satisfaction.

Health, Safety Environmental – effectively manages HSE aspects within the business, ensuring compliance and welfare of team members.
