Job Summary:

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager to deliver projects within their specification, time and cost constraints.



Outline and Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of projects in line with the contractual obligations, the specification and the quality/safety requirements, in order to maintain or better the baseline budget and schedule.

  • Take responsibility for the planning, prioritising and expediting of elements of the project, including engineering design, procurement, production, commissioning, acceptance and delivery.

  • Take responsibility for managing and expediting one or more major subcontracts, delivering equipment to company specifications, including the management of interfaces and quality coordination.

  • Co-ordinate purchasing activities, as agreed with the Project Manager. Liaise with QA to ensure ITP requirements are met in line with the project schedule.

  • Compile and collate project documentation including project management process documents, technical / procurement specifications, progress reports, final documentation etc. to support the project delivery.

  • Support the project’s configuration management infrastructure both in TeamCenter (for technical documents) and SharePoint (for project documents).

  • Ensure effective document control both internally and externally to the company and ensure all important communications and document items are configured.

  • Support the risk management and cost control processes.

  • Support the required project mandatory HSE requirements and reviews e.g. RAMS, LOLER, PUWER, HAZID etc.

  • Assist the Project Manager and Senior Engineer and liaise with production in support of the build, assembly, commissioning, acceptance and delivery phases of the project.

  • Support the project’s internal reporting cycle including team reviews, cost tracking, schedule updates, financial forecasting, resource forecasting and management reporting. defined and accepted.

  • Support the project’s external reporting cycle including Client Reviews, Client Progress Reports, Key Supplier Reviews and Key Supplier Progress Reports.

  • Support the effective close down of projects including analysis of the project result, documentation of the lessons learned, Client feedback obtained, and handover activities defined and accepted.

  • Work to and contribute to the development of company process/procedures and best practice.

  • Provide technical and administrative support, as necessary, to the Project Manager.

  • Deputise for the Project Manager in day-to-day operations.

  • Provide support to sales proposals and bids.

  • Undertake national and international travel as required.

  • Any other duties as directed by the Operations Manager or the General Manager.


This role may involve national and international travel.


About You:

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively



Experience and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in Engineering/PM of complex design and build projects to clients globally.

  • As a minimum, educated to an Engineering Degree level.

  • Preference for membership of a recognised engineering body (e.g. IMechE).

  • Qualifications/formal PM training such as PRINCE2 or APM.
