NRL are currently recruiting for a permanent Welding & Quality Engineer based near Hexham, Northumberland.
Job Purpose:
Reporting into the HSSEQ Director, the main purpose of the role is to ensure Quality is effectively embedded at company and project level within the organisation to ensure we meet our obligations and educate our staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyse project specific’s requirements for Quality Assurance & Quality Control, interpreting regulatory and statutory requirements, codes and customer specifications relating to fabrication, welding and materials.
Preparation of project technical specifications, such as project ITP, Quality Plans, Specifications for Welding, NDE & Coating and other categories.
Technical support to project teams and support functions during their requisitioning activities;
Review of vendors’ quality documentation, e.g. ITP, PQP & Welding Books, etc.
Review vendors welding techniques and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of components, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.
Maintains strong relationships with the Client quality representatives to report progress and handle inquiries and issues
Drives compliance, ensuring implementation of best practices and continuous improvement of quality standards and quality management systems
Work as a member of the overall HSEQ team, contributing to projects and delivering key messages to the business as appropriate e.g. participating in certification audits.
Develop, implement and maintain the Quality Management System and Health & Safety requirements with team colleagues.
Develop and collate quality data for monitoring targets.
Provide advice and guidance to project personnel on applying the Quality Management System (QMS) for design and execution activities.
Lead non-conformance investigations and root cause analysis.
Develop and implement Quality campaigns and improvement plans.
Carry out regular inspections and audits of sites, projects and QMS processes.
Work with project teams to develop and implement QA and QC requirements and activities.
Prepare, implement and maintain project quality plans, and support project teams.
Review, monitor and report on Supplier and Contractor Quality deliverables and performance.
Provide internal training on Welding and Quality to colleagues.
Any other additional tasks, duties and responsibilities within your capabilities depending on business needs.
You will be primarily based at our head office near Hexham, Northumberland but regular travel to Blyth assembly workshop and supplier facilities across the UK is required. International travel is also a requirement.
Role Requirements:
Certified International Weld Engineer or European Weld Engineer (or working towards)
Minimum of CSWIP 3.2.1 Certificate
Experience within a similar Quality role.
Internal Auditor Qualification for ISO 9001.
A strong passion for quality and championing of the “Quality – Right First Time” initiative.
Strong oral and written communication skills (able to facilitate quality events and meetings).
Strong problem-solving skills.
Devoted to and continuously improving health and safety and quality culture.
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel.
