Electrical Design Engineer

Role Purpose
As a member of the Critical Infrastructures Projects Team, you will develop all aspects of Electrical Services for Data Centre Design and Build projects, typically valued up to £2M. You'll work with the latest data centre technologies on award-winning projects as part of an innovative engineering team.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Produce electrical design information for data centres and comms rooms in critical environments.
- Specify electrical engineering services.
- Create electrical schematics and layout drawings for tender and construction (AutoCAD experience is beneficial but not essential).
- Perform electrical design calculations (Amtech preferred).
- Conduct lighting design using Relux/Dialux (beneficial but not essential).
- Carry out condition surveys and write engineering reports.
- Attend and conduct site surveys.
- Develop proposals, attend customer design meetings, and workshops to discuss proposals and designs.
- Liaise with sub-contractors and provide necessary drawing information for work package quotations.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure necessary equipment is procured and review purchase orders for technical design details.
- Communicate with site managers and engineers to provide information for managing installation and commissioning activities.
- Experience with Data Centre Installations, UPS, and generator systems is preferred but not essential.
- Qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Willingness to travel and full working rights in the UK.
- Minimum qualification of HNC in electrical or building services engineering. City and Guilds 2396 Design and Verification will also be considered.
- Engineering design experience in building projects and data centres is advantageous.
- Experience with Amtech design software, AutoCAD/Revit is preferred but not essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Project, and Excel.
- Ability to work within a design team environment, prioritize tasks, and manage time to meet deadlines.
- Strong forward-thinking and planning skills with the ability to perform consistently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Quick thinker, adaptable to different situations, and open to change and new ideas.
- Ability to exercise straightforward technical or professional judgment using company values, policies, and procedures to guide actions and decisions.
