It was an incredibly proud moment to see the recent unveiling of the She Leads mentorship programme, a transformative initiative developed in partnership with the team at in-Cumbria, aimed at supporting the careers and personal development of women in our local community.

She Leads embodies our unwavering belief in the potential of every individual. We’ve partnered with 6 female business leaders in Cumbria and are in the process of pairing each of them with an aspiring mentee, offering a platform to share their expertise whilst guiding and inspiring the next generation.

She Leads is unique in its approach, offering participants the opportunity to receive dedicated 1-2-1 guidance from experienced female mentors representing some of Cumbria's most prestigious businesses, across a range of sectors and industries. These mentors are committed to providing at least two hours per month to support their mentee’s goals, ensuring that the programme offers tailored guidance to help women at any stage in their career flourish in their respective fields.

It’s a way to reaffirm our commitment to supporting and uplifting women in their professional endeavors and was born from my desire to see other females benefit from the wonderful mentorship, I was fortunate enough to receive during my early career with NRL. In addition to helping establish the programme I am also participating as a mentor for this inaugural launch and can’t wait to meet my own mentee and learn how I can best assist them in reaching their career aspirations.

Through She Leads, we aim to create mutually beneficial relationships and contribute to the development and progression of Cumbria as a whole. The programme is designed to be more than just a mentorship opportunity; it is a movement that seeks to empower and inspire women across Cumbria, allowing them to take charge of their careers and be at the forefront of positive change.

I feel incredibly proud of this programme and the impact it will have on the professional and personal growth of women in our community, encouraging them to further their skills, gain invaluable insights and connect with influential female leaders that are already making a difference.

As we launch the She Leads programme I’m optimistic about the remarkable opportunity this initiative presents and the benefits it will deliver to those taking part. I strongly encourage anyone interested in the opportunity to become a mentee to view in-Cumbria’s call for applications and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity for individual growth.

I’m excited to follow all of this year’s mentees and their progress and look forward to seeing their updates and celebrating their achievements as they apply the learnings gained from working with their mentors.

She Leads is all about providing the resources and encouragement for women to lead in their fields, and I’m eager to witness the growth and success of all the women who become a part of this wonderful movement.
