Senior Estimator – Cork, Ireland
Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
Disseminate Operating Procedures for estimating activities and ensure implementation.
Standardise the estimating delivery of the projects, tools, templates, filing structures, so that The Company Standard becomes the norm across the operation.
Develop and implement estimate plans for projects.
Compile project estimates in accordance with the approved estimate plans and standard operating procedures.
Complete estimate risk analysis and contingency calculations.
Present and review estimates with project team and senior management.
Present and review estimates with clients.
Consolidation of benchmark information in a centralised and traceable location to ensure that all project learnings are captured and incorporated and project commencement and completion.
Take the lead in Value Engineering and Risk Workshopping.
Support and propagate Capital Cost Trending across projects.
Support and propagate The Company Value-Plus programme.
Support and propagate The Company Sustainability-Plus programme.
Ensure that systems are in place and effective, and that all estimating requirements of Project Management, and the Client are being satisfied.
Strive to improve templates and processes for estimate delivery, leveraging the IT tools available such as Cost-x, Navisworks, excel and other tools to improve the productive delivery of the estimating function.

Actively cooperate with members of the Project & Operations Management team.

Continually look for ways to improve our work processes.
Analyse outside commercial approaches and information for best practices.

Required:
BSc or MSc in a recognised Industry field (Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Engineering).
Chartered Membership of Engineers Ireland, SCSI or equivalent is an advantage.
This position requires extensive experience in cost engineering, quantity surveying or estimating fields. This should include experience on a project construction site and experience in a related industrial sector.
Technical Competencies:
Detailed knowledge of design, procurement, and construction/field service processes and their inherent cost and schedule performance risks.
Detailed understanding of The Company’s EPCM project delivery process.
Knowledgeable and proficient with computers and experienced with:
Spreadsheets, word processing and database software
Scheduling software
Quantity Surveying Software (Cost X; Navisworks; Buildsoft or equivalent)
Risk Analysis (Monte Carlo) software
Commercial and/or proprietary Project Services systems
Knowledge of resource requirements and training required for all Commercial Services software.
Detailed knowledge of preparation of Capital Estimates.
Proficiency in data management and structuring:
Benchmarking
Rates Harvesting
Automation of repetitive tasks
Price Sourcing Skills
Has a technical understanding of all the constituent functions – Contracts, Quantity Surveying; Claims Management.
Has a technical understanding of the software systems and methods used within all of the constituent functions.
Capable communicating with the commercial team to ensure complete understanding and fulfilment of operations and project/program objectives.
Capable of effectively communicating with all levels of project and operations management and with the client. Must identify potential problems and elevate these to the appropriate level(s) of management.
Able to make clear and concise presentations to The Company and Client management.
Good facilitator with excellent interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to foster and grow positive relationships within the Project Services team, within the performance unit (PU), across The Company – particularly with other offices, and with our Clients and partners.
