Quantity Surveyor

About the role:
NRL are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor for one of our leading clients within the Transmission and Distribution sector. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to work for a high profile client on large scale projects ranging from substations to underground works.

We are looking for a candidate who has previous experience of applying and developing subcontracts using the NEC3 or NEC4 (option A & C) within the power sector or relevant industry and who can provide commercial leadership at framework and project levels.
 
Duties as Quantity Surveyor include the following:
  • Conducting internal reports through the CVR and internal commercial management procedures. Reporting to the client in accordance with the periodical reporting procedure
  • Ensuring that cash flow is optimised
  • Manage change events in accordance with the contract
  • Produce cost estimates for both tender proposals and compensation events
  • Record commercial KPI data at project level and minimise any potential negative effect on your projects
  • Maintain the projects adherence to payment timescales
  • Prepare and manage sub-contracts throughout project
 
The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the project delivery teams, maximising profitability as well as enforcing the business drivers and outcomes for the project, as well as:
  • Have the ability to work alone or as part of a project team
  • Be able to interact and work with colleagues and clients to achieve the project objectives
  • Assist with management, preparation and submission of tender enquires.
  • Undertake costing activities
  • Identify new skills and competencies to meet the needs of the business, actively supporting development and recruitment of talent
 
Additional details:
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day
  • Travel to the site will be required
  • Must be willing to travel to the Birmingham office as an when required
 
What you need:
  • BSc or HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or equivalent commercially related subject
  • Experience of standard forms of measurement and forms of contract NEC 3/4 Options A & C
  • Computer literacy with experience MS office suite of programmes.
  • Ability to read and understand a project programme
