Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer

Location: Brentford 

 

Overview:

Have a requirement for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support a recently awarded project involving the pre-FEED and FEED of a Leisure and Commercial combined shipyard.  The project is managed at our clients office located in Brentford, West London and consists of an integrated team between our client and an Offshore Company.  


Responsibilities:

You will join the Mechanical Engineering Department which provides concept, FEED and detailed design services for mechanical equipment. The Department consists of Rotating, Static and Packaged Equipment and Mechanical Handling sub-disciplines and also the HVAC and Metallurgy disciplines. Engineering positions typically involve the selection, specification, design and requisitioning of mechanical equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design for the combined shipyard concept.  The shipyard facilities contain both ship production and maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities.

The role involves managing a team of mechanical engineers in the support of the project objectives.   Working as part of an integrated team with Aramco, you will be the focal point for all mechanical aspects of the project.

Experience with shipyard maintenance and manufacturing equipment including, quayside cranes, ship lifts and associated mechanical equipment would be beneficial to candidates applying for the role.

Additionally, candidates should demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing project demands as the design progresses.

 

Key Responsibilities

Deliver Mechanical engineering services that meet Worley and Aramco statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.

Lead Mechanical Engineer capable of working fully independently, involved in the following activities:

  • Writing mechanical specifications.
  • Writing mechanical data sheets.
  • Writing technical content documents to support market quotations.
  • Review of supplier bid documents.
  • Compilation of Technical Bid Evaluations to capture technical bid clarification responses.
  • Undertaking Bid Clarification Meetings.
  • Review and Approval of Designs and Check / Approval of Engineering Deliverables.
  • Monitoring assigned packages for technical compliance, contractual compliance, and QA/QC compliance.
  • Managing the mechanical engineering team to deliver project objectives.
  • Mechanical interface with all project disciplines, including liaison with multi-discipline project teams, project/engineering management.
  • Client point of contact for project mechanical scope.
  • Input to design reviews, risk assessments and value improvement workshops.
  • Identifying resource requirements and interview candidates (as required).
  • Reporting issues related to management of change.
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject.
  • Experienced mechanical engineer with a sound technical background and expertise.
  • Experienced in the use of appropriate codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation.
  • Experienced in the use of design and assessment methods used within discipline.
  • Competent in use of analytical methods used within discipline including theoretical background for analysis programs.
  • Experienced in quality control requirements and quality assurance for engineering work.
  • Team player experienced in working collaboratively to identify the best solutions for problems encountered and tenacity to drive these solutions with satisfactory application up to a conclusion.
  • Flexibility in approach and willingness to adjust to the requirements of project requirements.
  • Ability to think creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems.
  • Attendance in the office located in Brentford, West London 5 days per week.
  • Previous Aramco experience (an advantage).
  • Previous experience with shipyard equipment specification / design (an advantage).
