NRL Group is recruiting for an International Finance Partner to support all aspects of our operations outside the UK. This is a dynamic, fast-growing aspect of the NRL Group and now includes operations in Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Saudi and the wider Middle East, Spain, and Poland with smaller volumes of business in 18 other countries.

The Group’s non-GBP turnover is forecast to be £55m in 2024 and a requirement exists to manage and support all aspects of financial control in this area.

The role will focus on statutory compliance in these regions and the commercial control and returns associated with the contracts we hold with our overseas clients.

The role will be part of the Group’s overall Finance team based in Wigan, UK and will report to the Group Head of Finance.


Key deliverables will include:

  1. Be responsible for the full preparation work, system input and reconciliations of all aspects of the full workflow from payroll completion to billing reconciliations, bank recs, balance sheet reconciliations and preparing VAT returns.

  2. Balancing all the nominal codes that control our international businesses, and the international transactions that go into and through the TBs (invoices, journals, accruals payroll, Gross Margin) so you can control the accuracy of the initial work and report revenues generated through our international projects.

  3. Our international clients often operate self-bill systems and therefore excellent Excel skills will be required to perform the reconciliations to ensure the clients self-bill matches our system, this will involve working with lots of data.

  4. Building excellent relationships with our in-country partners to ensure we meet all statutory filing deadlines, which includes year-end tax returns.  Responsibility for ensuring that any impacts of overseas operations are correctly flowing through to the UK corporation tax position for Withholding tax.

  5. Completing VAT returns and liaising with our in-country accounting partners to ensure on time submission and payment through our overseas bank accounts are made. Ensure that any VAT implications for UK operations and group entities is correctly accounted for.

  6. Managing the inter-company positions, management fee arrangements and adequate transfer pricing is being managed across different tax jurisdictions around the Group whilst working with in-country partners to ensure billing is always compliant with local requirements.

  7. Managing the deliverables for the non-UK audits of our Group companies.

  8. Ad hoc support to the Group Head of Finance, CFO and International Development Director as required.

  9. Ad hoc support to Directors of our overseas entities.

  10. Supporting our International Development Director with the setup of new overseas entities, as the needs of the business dictate, liaising with in-country and UK-based partners including our VAT specialists, lawyers, and accountants to ensure the most compliant models are evaluated, chosen, and implemented.

Key skills will include:

  1. Exceptional Excel skills to handle large volumes of commercial data for reconciling and preparing the payroll and billing tasks.

  2. Excellent communication skills and the capability to build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners.  

  3. Ability to conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and provide actionable insights. 

  4. Knowledge of current tax regulatory environment and an ability to stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations, communicating implications to stakeholders. 

  5. Possess exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.

  6. Demonstrate excellent team player and collaboration abilities. 

  7. Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting multiple deadlines.

  8. Previous experience in tax compliance or advisory roles.
