Our Client specialises in the manufacturing of bespoke low voltage (LV) switchgear but also produce distribution boards, panel boards, transformers and containerised substations to meet client requirements. 

About the Role 

We are seeking a Financial Controller to oversee and manage the Finance Team. To analyse and report on key financial data within the organisation ensuring that Directors and Managers receive timely, accurate and relevant information. Working under the directive of the director you will be responsible for 3 staff members. 

Primary Responsibilities 

• 

To produce timely and reliable management information reports monthly. This will involve the preparation of the monthly MI for presentation to the Finance Director. 

• 

To develop and improve financial reporting to ensure that accounts are effectively produced and managed. 

• 

Take a lead role in the implementation of new systems and practices. 

• 

Working closely with Directors and relevant departments on major projects to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, budget and variance analysis. 

• 

Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of applications on specific contract terms and ensure accurate accounting treatment. 

• 

Review accounts receivable, aging reports and assist with direct reports for collections. 

• 

To ensure the AP, AR and banking functions are managed effectively and that all processing is up to date and key measures and controls are in place and adhered to. 

• 

To prepare annual budgets for review with department managers. 

• 

To review stock and work in progress and ensure they are accurately reflected in the accounts. 

• 

To prepare weekly/monthly cash flow planner and forecasts. 

• 

To manage the commercial finance(ID) facility. 

• 

To review and sign off the monthly VAT returns. 

• 

To review the payroll and all year end HMRC reporting. 

• 

Prepare the yearend audit file and liaise with auditors on all statutory reporting requirements. 

• 

Assist with any ad hoc projects and information requests by staff. 

• 

Hold monthly meetings with staff to discuss the performance of the department and relevant KPIs. 

• 

Oversee and manage the annual stock count. 

• 

Work with Finance Team and IT to develop smarter work practices. 

 

Key Requirements Essential 

• 

ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified. 

• 

Strong analytical skills. 

• 

Effective communication and interpersonal skills and a good team player. 

• 

Good knowledge of budgeting and forecasting issues and techniques. 

• 

Strong knowledge of accounting packages. 

• 

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office in particular Excel. 

• 

Right to work in the UK. 

 

Desirable Requirements 

• 

Degree qualified or AAT Qualified. 

• 

ERP system experience. 

• 

Experience in the construction sector. 

• 

Project financial management experience. 

•Knowledge of construction industry VAT and HMRC schemes. 

 

Leadership experience.
