Are you a skilled Control Systems Test Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity in the highly regulated nuclear industry? Working with a leading engineering consultancy, we are seeking a talented individual to join our client's team on an initial 12-month contract at Birchwood Park, Warrington, with the flexibility of hybrid working.

As an EC&I Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in planning and prioritising your work to deliver testing and validation of PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions. You will collaborate closely with engineering, design, and development teams to identify, document, and troubleshoot issues across various platforms. Your responsibilities will include designing test plans, generating test specifications, executing testing procedures, and providing solutions to ensure compliance with industry regulations and client requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and procedures.

  • Perform rigorous testing on hardware, software, and integrated systems.

  • Identify and troubleshoot issues within control systems.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and prepare detailed test reports.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise testing strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety procedures.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Previous experience in control systems testing or a similar role.

  • Proficiency in control systems, embedded systems, PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.

  • Hands-on experience with testing tools and equipment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in programming/configuration of PLC and/or HMI & SCADA control systems.

  • Knowledge of motor/drive control systems, electrical distribution panels, or network/cyber system cubicles.

  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages used in test automation.
