As their business grows, they are hiring a Consultant Engineer to work with the management team and support our clients. Because they are a small firm, you’ll be expected to lend a hand wherever is needed, but most of your work will be on client engagements, and will include:
Configuring our systems to support client needs
Advising on the best way to structure projects within the system
Researching data (such as carbon intensities for different materials)
Advising clients how they can achieve carbon reductions
Helping clients to use the system (including training and support).
Kraken IM are a tech firm working in an engineering context, we want to recruit a person from a strong engineering/construction background who will be able to speak the language of clients. You can see detailed job requirements below, but the keys are:
To be smart, personable, and able to pick up new information quickly (you’ll be client facing, and there is a lot to learn, understand and regurgitate)
To have a good knowledge of engineering (so you look professional to our clients, so you understand the language they’re speaking, and you can speak to them in their terms)
To have a basic knowledge of technology (you won’t be coding, but you will have to help clients use the system, so you’ll need to understand it thoroughly and pick the system up quickly)
To have a strong work ethic, a can-do attitude and be prepared to go the extra mile for the firm and clients (as a small firm, job roles have to be very flexible – if something needs doing, all have to be prepared to do it even if it’s outside your formal role. There will also be times when growth outpaces our hiring, and we all have to work harder than usual – but in return you get to join the company on the ground floor and grow with the firm).
What you will need
Qualifications
You’ll be an engineering graduate (preferably in civil or mechanical engineering, but any related discipline works) who’s been in the workforce for a few years.
You’ve got a track record of learning fast and of problem solving, and you know how to look good when facing a customer directly.
You thrive on working independently, and you’re not uncomfortable with uncertainly. You love to learn (both through formal training and independent study) and you’re happy to see your skills and career progress.
It’s important that the team all work together in the office almost every day because it allows you to learn more quickly and to form a bond with the team. There will be occasional days when you can work from home, but you should expect the office to be your primary workplace.
What’s in it for you
On offer is a great salary, a super work environment (at the office in Middlesborough) and most importantly an opportunity for you to get an incredible boost to your career by learning and developing faster than you ever thought possible. Of course, full training both on our system and the underlying methodology will be provided, including CFIHOS – a very in demand skill.
