CAD Technician/Document Controller - Teesworks Electricity Network
NRL are proud to be partnering with a newly formed company who will operate and maintain all HV Networks on the Teesworks site as well as all the capital build of new networks and substations which is a £190m capital program.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced CAD Technician/Document Controller with a strong electrical bias to support our engineering team in the utilities sector for a programme of HV network upgrades. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed CAD drawings, collaborating with engineers and project managers, and ensuring that all designs meet industry standards and client requirements. This newly formed company will require someone who is capable of setting up document controls and libraries.
Outline and Responsibilities:

CAD Drawing and Design:
  • Create and modify detailed CAD drawings and schematics for electrical systems in the utilities sector
  • Create and modify land plans to identify cable routings
  • Create and modify 3D cable ducting and pipework trenches
  • Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and client specifications
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, diagrams, and documentation for electrical infrastructure projects, including power distribution, substations, and control systems
Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure accurate designs
  • Coordinate with other CAD technicians and designers to ensure consistency and quality across all project drawings
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss design progress, address issues, and implement solutions
Quality Assurance and Document Control:
  • Conduct thorough reviews and quality checks of CAD drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Document Control duties
  • Keeping track of project documents
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors in design documents
  • Maintain organised records of all drawings, revisions, and related documentation
Technical Support:
  • Liaise with external contracting companies
  • Assist in the development and implementation of CAD standards and best practices within the team
Software and Tools:
  • Utilise CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and other relevant tools to produce high-quality drawings
  • Utilise Google maps and alike to create overall site plans
  • Stay updated with the latest software advancements and industry trends to enhance productivity and efficiency
About You:
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively
Experience and Qualifications:

Education:
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, CAD Design, or a related field
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CAD Technician with a focus on electrical design
  • Proven experience working in the utilities sector, specifically on projects related to power distribution, substations, and control systems
  • HV network experience
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Google Maps or similar
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles, codes, and standards
  • Familiarity with utilities sector regulations and requirements
