NRL are currently recruiting for an experienced 1st Assistant within the vessel and construction operations management (VECOP) department, to be employed on board a construction vessel worldwide.
Requirements within the role:
Coordinate work & manpower on board for the assigned shift in compliance with Project specification, in order to ensure efficient performance and respecting HSE and Quality procedures and practices
Assist the Offshore Construction Manager regarding interdisciplinary coordination of all works on board
Supervise the team of foremen and supervisors, regarding the various disciplines/categories of construction and assembly work, in order to comply with the quality and safety standard
Coordinate the construction activities during the shift and optimise all production phases
Ensure that the Offshore Construction Manager is kept fully informed of potential problems and construction status
Liaise with Chief Mate, 2nd Engineer and Vessel Equipment Engineer to ensure preventive maintenance and construction activities
Liaise with subcontractors' supervisors to optimize production
Solve matters related to coordination, priority and interface between the different disciplines to meet the scopes of the project
Ensure that the Permit-to-Work system for construction crew is adhered to and ensures that the daily Toolbox Talks and JSA, if required, are carried out according to the procedures
Motivate all construction crew/subcontractors with regards to health, safety and environment awareness
Ensure the compliance with the standards dictated by QHSE policies and safety procedures, in order to perform the activities in a safe manner
Report incidents and near-miss events
Manage the Crane operations, including coordination with the Chief Mate for main crane movements on board, ROV launching and underwater operations
Assist marine operations if required
Provide a construction report at the end of each shift
Assist the Vessel Field Engineer in the follow up of project equipment and consumable, operation and monitoring of the stinger and JLT
Ensure the rigging gear used is within date and properly marked
You will need:
Preferably a technical High School Diploma or civil, mechanical, electrical or naval engineering background
Fluent in English
6 or 7 years of prior experience in the oil & gas business
4 year of experience in the role of 1st assistant or similar Supervisor Role
Preferred engineering background
