NRL’s North East Recruitment teams are celebrating a record number of promotions as they enter another year of sustained client growth and career progression opportunities.

Technical and engineering recruitment specialists NRL have offices across the UK and internationally, including three in the North East region. Initially opening their Sunderland branch in 1990, continued growth in the region saw them open a Teesside branch in Redcar and a regional base in Blyth that services the local area as well as clients in Norway and energy projects in the North Sea.

The start of 2025 was a memorable moment for five colleagues, with promotions into new positions a direct reflection of their personal growth and career development.

Supporting clients across the built environment, engineering, construction and automotive sectors, NRL’s Sunderland branch has continued to grow its support for regional and national projects, including the UK’s first gigafactory that is under construction just a short distance from their office. This client growth has allowed colleagues to take on more responsibility which has resulted in four promotions within the team. Georgia Coates and Daniel Scott move into Senior Recruitment Consultant roles, whilst Rachel Fenwick and Laura Smith have been promoted to Team Leaders.

In Teesside, continued work to support pivotal regeneration projects in the region has seen the branch grow in recent years from just one employee to a team of three. Tiffanie Harding joined the team in early 2023 with no previous experience of recruitment. Learning from fellow colleagues and undertaking her own personal learning and development plan, Regional Director Emma Lowden was delighted to also promote Tiffanie into a Recruitment Consultant role.

Emma Lowden reflects on the teams’ continued success:

“Across our North East teams it gives me a great deal of pride to be able to recognise the personal growth of colleagues through promotions like these. As we’ve increased our North East footprint it’s provided opportunities for collaboration between branches and more opportunity than ever for colleagues to develop their skill set in their own area of expertise. It’s a pleasure to watch each of them progress in their careers.
Now in our 35th year of operating in the North East and with an average tenure of 10 years across our teams, it’s personally rewarding for me to see promotions like these which are testament to the fantastic working environment our teams have created, and each of their drive and commitment.”

To support career growth, in total 16 courses were completed by colleagues in NRL’s North East branches, working with the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) to cover a range of topics including growing client relationships, strategic sales and inclusive recruitment. This investment in industry-recognised training is part of a continued commitment by the business to provide opportunities for colleagues to learn new skills and further develop their careers. Surveying colleagues across the business in 2024 as part of the Great Place To Work® certification, an overwhelming number of employees valued the training and development offered to them to further themselves professionally.
