Recruitment colleagues in NRL's Sunderland branch are eagerly anticipating the chance to connect with like-minded energy and engineering companies at the upcoming OWNE 2023 (Offshore Wind North East conference and exhibition), taking place 8-9th November 2023 at the Beacon of Light, Sunderland.

For the team, the event will be just a short distance down the road from their local office, and provides a great opportunity to share more information on the recruitment and workforce solutions they've been providing to support regional offshore wind and renewable energy projects in recent years.

They're keen to engage with organisations and suppliers across the North East's offshore wind sector to encourage collaboration and are interested in sharing their industry knowledge to ensure as many people as possible can benefit from the excellent job opportunities across the supply chain.

A huge passion for the team is their ongoing work to develop diverse workforce solutions for their clients, which they'll be telling delegates more about at OWNE 2023. They want to make the offshore wind sector as accessible and inclusive as possible, reinforcing our commitment and certification from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) as an Inclusive+ Recruiter.

One important approach to achieving this is the identification of transferable skills, and helping businesses to look at how they can reposition roles to make them more attractive to a wider talent pool. Drawing on the expertise of our recruitment experts to expand the pool of skilled workers to provide opportunities for those outside the sector to consider moving to a career in offshore wind. Eventually helping to reduce the skills gap and create a robust and resilient workforce ready to face future energy challenges.

As continued members of NOF, who organise the OWNE conference and exhibition each year, NRL's Sunderland team are also looking forward to catching up with other members and delegates across the two days.

For Regional Director Emma Lowden, OWNE 2023 provides a great chance to hear more about offshore wind energy projects happening now;

"Each year it's always a great experience being at OWNE, and that's because we have so much to celebrate when it comes to leading the way with offshore wind energy production in the North East.

It's a great opportunity to catch up with industry peers, share our passion for supporting local people to secure long-term employment prospects in this exciting sector, and tell people more about the work we've been doing across the energy supply chain to progress the region's net zero energy transition.

We're really looking forward to this year's conference agenda and exhibition, which is always overflowing with interesting information and people."
