Technical and engineering recruitment specialists NRL are delighted to have been shortlisted in two categories for the Recruiter Awards 2023, thanks to their recognised progress with key corporate social responsibility goals. Earning nominations for Most Sustainable Recruitment Agency and within the Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity (DE&I) Service Excellence category.

With a clear strategy in place to grow the business ethnically and responsibly, the recruiter’s efforts earned them a shortlist spot for the Most Sustainable Recruitment Agency award. With a strong culture of always doing the right thing, this spearheaded an initiative to become carbon neutral across their operations – working with the not-for-profit organisation One Carbon World to comprehensively analyse their carbon footprint and voluntarily purchase carbon credits to offset their operations to gain the Carbon Neutral International Standard certification. Keen to make meaningful change, the long-term goal was to reduce emissions year on year, to ensure the business was moving forward in a sustainable way. With a 27% reduction achieved by the second year of reporting, and further reduction in year three helping to deliver a 31.5% reduction in their carbon footprint since the initiative began, as well as a 29.4% fall in carbon footprint by employee.

With equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) of huge importance to the business, and the recruitment services provided to clients in traditionally underrepresented sectors such as energy and construction, NRL are also passionate about levelling the playing field for job applicants. Identifying diversity strategies with clients to attract a wider mix of candidates, whilst supporting important industry initiatives such as women in construction, and support for ex-offenders to help them secure meaningful career opportunities upon prison departure. Plus supporting branch recruitment teams to undertake the Association of Professional Staffing Companies’ Inclusive+ Recruiter certification to advance their personal knowledge and better support clients. This progress was recognised by the judging panel for the Recruiter Awards 2023, with NRL announced as a shortlist nominee in the Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity (DE&I) Service Excellence category.

Discussing the Recruiter Awards shortlist, NRL’s CEO David Redmayne said,

“Being acknowledged at an industry level for our advancements in sustainability and ED&I is a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to the dedication of our colleagues throughout the company.

These are key focus areas for NRL and initiatives we’re pleased to dedicate time to. We constantly seek ways to enhance our efforts and make a more significant impact. Corporate social responsibility programmes like these embody the culture and values that NRL stands for, so it is gratifying to see our progress recognised through nominations for the Recruiter Awards 2023.”

The winners of the Recruiter Awards 2023 will be announced at their awards ceremony on Thursday 28th September.
