Plater Jobs in Tyne and Wear

Plater

A Plater is a specialist metal worker who shapes metal for applications such as pipework, tanks, vessels and component parts. Working as a Plater you will often be required to weld together sections of metal, and can sometimes need to work a range of different metals such as steel or aluminium.

Platers must use specialist tools and machinery to cut and shape metal into a particular size and shape before polishing it to remove any rough edges. Across the engineering industry there is a constant need for Platers to support fabrication work across multiple sectors, such as renewable energy, nuclear, construction and infrastructure.

Some Platers work in factories, where shift work may be required. Experience working as a Plater within a heavy industry background is usually required where companies are looking for experienced trade professionals to support project delivery, as well as a formal qualification.
