Job Description:
A main contractor is currently recruiting a permanent Quantity Surveyor (QS) for high-end residential works based initially near Shepherds Bush but with a head office near Kensington. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS to join a growing business and develop their career with regularly increasing experience and career development.

About the role:

  • Implement commercial strategy
  • Support the SQS & MQS commercial functions, assisting with and taking responsibility for:
  • Preparing tenders, analysing, selecting appropriate s/cs, negotiation and finalise s/c orders
  • Financial and commercial management of s/sc to Final Account completion
  • Site records and document control
  • Site measurement records
  • Assisting in the preparation of forecasts, targets and CV reconciliations
  • Valuations
  • Prepare variations with adequate records and details, agree as works progress
  • Update projected Final Account, prepare and submit in a timely manner
  • Liaise with and commercially influence/challenge site management team
  • Maintain and protect JSS commercial and contractual entitlement
  • Contract Value Reports(CVR) – Be actively involved in and understand the process and maintain an independent view
  • Risk/opportunity – Review and consider
  • Insurances/warranties – Develop understanding
  • Cash management – be aware and be actively involved to ensure good cash management
  • Manage and oversee AQS & TQS, checking and taking responsibility for their work
  • Involvement with:
  • Simple D&B/CDP contracts
  • D&B contracts
  • Claims and disputes
  • Understanding of contract law
  • Involvement but no responsibility for contracts over £15m
  • Take responsibility for control of traditional contracts
  • Supervise AQS and sign-off SMM/measurement issues

What you will need:

  • Academic and/or professional industry related management qualification
  • Industry related professional institution membership e.g. MCIOB or CEng MICE
  • IOSH for Directors, CDM/PSCS Awareness, BBS, Root Cause Analysis & S5 & Q10 internal workshops
  • Contract Value Reports, PEP and Contract Management
  • Ability to effectively utilise a range of technology platforms
  • Be fully conversant with the use of the Standard Method of Measurement
  • Demonstrate ownership/commercial awareness
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management, organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills
