Our client is a major global organisation with vast diversity in provision in Nuclear, Defence, Building & Infrastructure, Oil & Gas and Pharmaceutical.   A prestigious & highly successful company with a proven track record in the delivery of providing expertise in design, technical, engineering, professional and construction services.

Seeking experienced, professional & innovative Principal Civil Structural Engineers to be part of the Defence & Nuclear Portfolio Programme based in Barrow-In-Furness.

These are excellent opportunities to be part of one of the most significant Civil, Structural and Architectural Design projects in the UK.

Key skills / attributes:

Chartered or near Chartered Member of an appropriate institution (ICE/IStructE)

Degree Qualified in Civil / Structural Engineering combined with relevant experience.

Minimum of 10 years experience within a Civil and / or Structural Design role.

Solid design expertise using international & British standards and / or Eurocodes.

Industry Background in Defence, MOD and / or Nuclear.

Highly proficient in structural analysis programs (STAAD,ANSYS, TEDDS).

Knowledge & Capability in the following areas:

Structural theory and analytical skills

Detailed calculations

Reinforced concrete and structural steelwork

Lead Projects of varying complexity and size.

Excellent organisation, planning and communication skills are key to this role with the ability to liaise directly with clients and other design teams.

Must be a driven forward thinking professional with an ability to problem solve to ensure robust deliveries are achieved.

Skilled in cultivating excellent working relationships at Management, Executive & Director Level.


Membership of a professional institution would be advantageous.

Structural dynamics experience, including designing for seismic, impact and blast load effects.

Knowledge of BIM

SC Clearance (if no clearance held must be willing & eligible to go through clearance process)
