At NRL, we value the communities we work in, which is why we feel it is our social and corporate responsibility to give back to them. Each year Egremont hosts a Christmas Festival which brings the community together through a series of scheduled events for people of all ages. To give back to the community in appreciation of their continuous support, this year NRL made a donation of £350 to cover the cost of the “Wishing Tree” which was one of the key attractions at this year’s festival.
In-keeping with tradition the Wishing Tree which stood at the bottom of Egremont Main Street was decorated with wishes made by children from the local primary schools – Bookwell, St. Bridget’s, Orgill, Moor Row and Thornhill. Wooden Christmas shapes such as stars, snowmen and trees that were delivered by the Egremont Amenities Committee to the schools formed the basis for the children’s wishes. On one side of the decoration the children were asked to create a festive design using glitter and sequins and on the reverse they were asked to write their Christmas wishes.
Rebecca Graves, NRL Divisonal Manager comments:
“The Egremont Christmas Wonderland Event attracts people of all ages from the local community and visitors from surrounding areas alike. We are proud to have contributed to the event through our donation to cover the cost of the Wishing Tree and we hope that all those attending enjoy the festivities and have a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”
