    Saipem wins $6 billion onshore LNG project

    Saipem has recently been awarded a major EPC contract from Anadarko for the delivery of an onshore LNG project in Mozambique. Saipem will work in joint venture with McDermott International and Chiyoda Corporation. The recent award is a significant milestone for the Italian giant and marks the largest single project award in its history.

    Bechtel is awarded EPC contract for Rio Grande LNG

    Bechtel have added another LNG project to their portfolio by securing this high value EPC contract with NextDecade. The project consists of three new trains, two 180,000 cubic meter storage tanks, and two marine berths. There may also be a further requirement for an additional storage tank and loading facilities. Bechtel-built facilities are now responsible for over 30 percent of the world’s LNG capacity.

    Wood wins contract for Petrochem facility in Oman

    Wood PLC has been awarded a FEED contract on one of the Middle East’s largest petrochemical plants for DUQM. Work will involve the construction of new steam cracker unit. Workload is set to be split between Wood’s offices in the UK and Oman with up to 300 people required for the project.

    Technip confirmed for Artic LNG EPC

    TechnipFMC have now signed a contract with Novatek for the EPC on Artic LNG. Plans for the project include the construction of three LNG trains at 6.6 million tons per annum each.


    Merger & Acquisitions

    Total buys out Anadarko’s assets in Africa

    Anadarko has agreed to the sale of its African based assets for a huge $8.8 billion. This has cemented Total’s intention to grow within the LNG market as they take on projects within Algeria, Ghana & Mozambique said to contain in excess of 1.2 billion barrels of oil-equivalent, 70% of which is natural gas.

    TAQA buys out Schlumberger’s middle east rigs

    Saudi Arabia’s oilfield services company TAQA has kicked off spending on a planned $1.2 billion investment in acquisitions with a new deal to take on Schlumberger’s drilling business in the Middle East. This will include onshore oil rigs in Kuwait, Oman, Iraq and Pakistan.

    KBR now preferred bidder for the Freeport LNG project

    KBR announced mid-month that they had been selected as preferred bidder for the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up of the Freeport LNG facility. This followed the successful completion of front-end engineering and design as well as execution planning and EPC proposal.

    Plan approved for Johan Sverdrup Phase 2

    Plans for the development and operation of the second phase of the Johan Sverdrup field have been approved by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. Operator Equinor announced the intention to go ahead with the project said to have a value just shy of $5 Billion.
