  • NRL supports the RNLI’s Workington Lifeboat Appeal

NRL-Donation-RNLI-Workington-Lifeboat-AppealNRL Group is proud to support the RNLI’s Workington Shannon Class lifeboat appeal with a donation of £2,500.  The appeal aims to raise enough funds so the RNLI can retire the current All Weather lifeboat after 25 years of loyal service.  During this time, it has been called on to assist people in distress on 276 occasions, saved 73 lives and carried 324 people safely ashore.

This donation is part of NRL’s ongoing commitment to the local Cumbrian community and also the essential work of the RNLI.  Andrew Redmayne, NRL Group CEO, comments ‘Our business has always taken the role we play in our communities very seriously and actively encourage all our branches to support local causes.  We really hope that our fundraising activities and donations make a difference.  We are thrilled that we can support the Workington RNLI with this vital appeal and hope these dedicated volunteers reach their target soon.’

Andrew’s sentiments are echoed by John Stobbart, Coxswain of the Workington Lifeboat: ‘I would like to personally thank NRL Group for their contribution to the new Workington Shannon Class Lifeboat as they are one of the few companies to choose to support this appeal.  As a Cumbrian business, we are pleased NRL are supporting our local volunteers – who go to sea no matter the circumstances – with the very latest in lifesaving equipment.’

Rebecca Graves, Egremont Branch Director,  and Phil Jennings, NRL’s NDT Director, had the pleasure of presenting the RNLI with the donation and also the unique opportunity of taking a trip on a lifeboat with the Workington crew.
