  • NRL Supports Local School in Preparation for Work Day

NRL_Recruitment_Consultants_Knowledge_Hub_Preparation_For_WorkMarketing Team Leader, Stephen Baldwin, recently took part in Shevington High School’s Yearly Preparation for Work Day as part of NRL’s commitment to support local communities.

The Wigan school organises the event each year to help prepare students for the world of work including workshops to help them with improving their interview skills, writing CVs, completing application forms and applying for apprenticeships.  The day culminated in each pupil being interviewed by a local employer.

Employers from Wigan and the wider area came along to support the students by offering their expertise from their industries to give them a real-life experience of an interview situation.

Stephen, a member of the Wigan branch of NRL, attended the day and interviewed 6 students who were interested in marketing and engineering roles.  After the interviews had taken place Stephen then offered his advice to help the students improve their interview techniques and explain what employers are looking for on their CVs and application forms.

    Stephen commented:

“The day was extremely rewarding and it was great to see all the effort and hard work the students had put into preparing for their interviews.  The opportunity NRL offers to all employees to give back to the local community each year is fantastic.”

As part of NRL’s corporate social responsibility programme, NRL promotes community involvement.  Each member of staff can donate one day each year to help, volunteer and/or raise money for a charity or cause of their choice.
