The NRL Washington branch is celebrating after being announced as a finalist in the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards 2014 for Business of the Year.
The branch which specialises in the supply of trades and technical staff is hoping to be crowned Business of the Year 2014 at the ceremony which takes place on the 9th October 2014 at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.
NRL opened their Washington branch in 1989 and today they employ 19 staff locally with a turnover of £20m. Emma Lowden, Divisional Manager at the Washington branch explains:
“We were one of the first local agencies to specialise in trade’s recruitment in the North East and today we payroll over 600 workers every week. In addition to this we place many workers into permanent jobs.”
Gillian Gomersall, Director of the Washington branch added:
“Trading conditions have been tough since 2008 but we have still managed to grow our business and we put that down to our hard working and resilient staff who have worked closely with our candidates and clients to ensure that projects could be met on time and within budget.”
Nationally the picture for NRL is just as bright with the company on track to reach a turnover of over £170m this year trading from 12 offices across the UK and 1 office internationally in Cairo.
NRL also made major investments in technology and its online presence in 2013/14. This strategy has already helped to deliver record results and enabled the company to hire more staff.
