  • NRL Coffee Morning helps tackle cancer

for-images-with-grey-borderNRL’s Wigan branch celebrated Macmillan Cancer Support’s annual Biggest Coffee Morning event by baking and bringing in cakes, enjoying everyone’s creations and raising money for a great cause.

This year, everybody in our Wigan office took part to fill our office with treats, and our staff donated generous amounts to show their support for the service Macmillan provides. Some employees even brought their families in for the morning to share in the celebrations.

We also hosted a competition in to see who could guess how many spots were on a picture of a cake, with the winner taking home half of the prize money and the other half going directly into the collection box. A bottle of champagne was also gifted to the winner of our ‘Best Cake’ competition.

In total, we managed to raise £200 for Macmillan thanks to the help and support of our staff members. We’d also like to pass on a big ‘thank you’ to all of the other businesses across the UK who took part.

The money raised by the Coffee Morning goes towards support for the 2.5 million in the UK living with cancer. Macmillan helps provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support for individuals and families living with the disease, helping them cope with things while they focus on their treatment.

Last year, Macmillan’s Coffee Morning raised a massive £25m, and we hope that everyone’s contributions this year can help us beat that record. To find out how you can donate, please visit the Macmillan website to learn more.

Thank you and well done again to all our staff in Wigan who took part in and supported the coffee morning.
