NRL were extremely privileged to sponsor and support The Four Oarsmen as they made history winning the 2017 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Campaign. George, Dicky, Peter and Stuart completed in the annual Talisker Whisky Atlantic challenge to raise money for for two charities that hold a place close to their hearts – Mind and Spinal Research UK.
THE GRUELLING EXCURSION ACROSS THE OCEAN SAW THEM TACKLE 3,000 MILES TO CROSS THE ATLANTIC – ROWING TWO-HOURS ON-AND-OFF FOR 29 DAYS, 14 HOURS AND 34 MINUTES.
This incredible time saw them not only win the 2017 race, but set two new records. The amateur rowers beat the previous year’s winners by 6 days to set a new race record for the four-crew challenge. They also spectacularly broke the world record for the fastest ever team crossing across the Atlantic.
“What The Four Oarsmen have achieved is absolutely remarkable. The dedication, perseverance and team work they have showed in rowing so relentlessly across the Atlantic has been humbling to watch.
We’re privileged to have been able to sponsor them and share their journey, and see the unbelievable amount of money they have raised for their charities. Everyone at NRL is extremely proud of their tremendous, well-earned achievement.”
