  • NRL to support women in construction at NAWIC’s North East Gatsby Ball

NRL Limited have signed up as co-sponsors of the National Association of Women in Construction’s North East branch ball.

The business’ Washington branch have been supporting construction businesses across the North East and beyond since opening their doors in 1990. Lead by Branch Director Gillian Gomersall, she understands only too well the need to raise the profile of the sector to women in the region. Keen to help make a difference Gomersall engaged NRL as corporate members of NAWIC’s North East branch.

With plans already underway for NAWIC’s annual North East ball hosted at Newcastle’s Biscuit Factory on 13th October 2017, NRL were delighted to take up an opportunity to further support the organisation by co-sponsoring the event alongside Esh Group and the Northern Counties Builders Federation. The Great Gatsby themed event will draw together supporters from across the North East to celebrate NAWIC’s achievements at a 1920’s vintage glamour evening.

Discussing the pending NAWIC ball Gomersall said, “When I joined NRL twenty seven years ago seeing women on construction sites was unheard of. Whilst over the years things have certainly improved, there is still so much more than can be done to signpost all the great careers available to women within the sector.

Our Washington branch is made up of a female majority, working to provide recruitment services to construction organisations in the area, so women in construction is an area that we’re all passionate about. The team and I are really looking forward to the NAWIC ball, and supporting the organisation over the next year to showcase what the construction industry has to offer today’s women.”

The event will take place on Friday 13th October 2017 at Newcastle’s iconic Biscuit Factory art gallery. Tickets for the event are available to purchase by contacting catriona@cene.org.uk
