NRL are extremely proud to be sponsoring The Four Oarsmen as they take on the task of rowing across the Atlantic Ocean. George, Dicky, Peter and Stuart are competing in the annual Talisker Whisky Atlantic challenge in order to fundraise for two charities that hold a place close to their hearts – Mind and Spinal Research UK.
The gruelling excursion across the ocean will see the boys alternating between two-hour on-and-off rowing shifts to complete the 3,000 miles across the Atlantic. They will also need to be mindful of the boat’s weight capacity, weather patterns and their food supply, making the journey as mentally demanding as it is physically challenging. This is the ultimate test of mind, body and soul – deemed the world’s toughest row:
“MORE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN INTO SPACE OR CLIMBED EVEREST THAN HAVE ROWED THE ATLANTIC.”
“I am personally thrilled to support such a fantastic endeavour. The commitment The Four Oarsmen have already shown to the Challenge is incredible and it is only going to intensify. Remember, all four of the team will be juggling their day jobs, training and fundraising. At NRL we will be watching their progress closely and cheering them on once the race starts. Most importantly, we look forward to welcoming them home safe and sound.”
The group are hard at work training for the big event in December and we’ll be following them throughout this huge endeavour.
